How Do I Take the Pledge for Teens Against Bullying?

Sticks and stones may break your bones, but names will never hurt me is a nursery rhyme from 1862 that gave victims of bullying a way to protect themselves in centuries before this one. This proves that bullying was a part of society even back then and still happens today which is unbelievable. The difference from then until now is that there are platforms today that are put into place to help teens cope with the difficulties of bullying. The Pacer Center is a parent training and information center which is funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs. Teen's Against Bullying is a anti-bullying website supported by The Pacer Center that provides innovative resources for students, parents, educators, and anyone else who is affected or needs digital information to combat bullying amongst adolescents. One out of every five students will experience bullying which could be you, someone that you care about, or a classmate. You have the opportunity to take a pledge on their website that keeps you accountable to stop bullying in its tracks.  The pledge entails a commitment to help those who cannot help themselves. There is a box that you will check to commit to the pledge stating, I pledge to support others who have been hurt or harmed, treat others with kindness, be more accepting of people's differences, and help include those who are left out.  The pledge will then ask what age group you belong to ranging from a student in early education or elementary school, a middle school student, a high school student, a college student, or an adult. The pledge ends with finding out which state you live in to complete the information pertaining to The Pacer Center's statistics. If you would like to participate, you would go to the website to take the pledge. So far this year, 9236 participants have pledged their support to stop bullying. The age group which has the majority of participation is within the middle school students having 58 percent of the completed online pledges and high school being in second having 20 percent of the pledges to stop bullying. To complete the pledge, the website provides a certificate which can be printed off and signed as a thank you for pledging the cause against bullying and a reminder to stay on task of stopping bullies before they can start with their negative shenanigans. Your thank you certificate points out that you have shown you care about bullying and want everyone to feel safe. Taking the pledge keeps everyone united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion except in the case of bullying.
